Look books are a fantastic tool to inspire clients and get them to try something new.
Often they are split into different categories: long, short and mid-length styles, brunettes, blondes, and so on. But, sometimes they aren’t updated for years and it’s hard to keep finding relevant and on trend images that all work together.
A great way to solve this is to include a catwalk section in your look book.
Pick your 5 favourite designers and then each season take the images from their fashion shows, usually the Autumn/Winter collections are at the shows in February/March and their Spring/Summer collections are September/October. By following the collections it will keep your look book up to date and constantly changing. It also sounds great when you talk to your clients about the future season’s collections as seen on the catwalks of Milan, London, Paris and New York.
Remember, your clients may not literally go for any of the styles if they are too avant garde, but it shows that you are in touch with trends and it can help to seed ideas and encourage them to be a bit more adventurous. And, by showing the collections several months ahead of the season, if they aren’t able to achieve the style they want in one visit, you can set them on a colour and cut path so they are ready to go as soon as the trend hits.
