As technology becomes cheaper and easier to access, everyones getting a smartphone or a tablet. So why not take the plunge for your salon and invest in a tablet to use with clients. You can pick them up for under £100 and they will be powerful enough for the salon and allow you to download a variety of apps.

Tablets are great to have at your waiting area for clients to browse through whilst they wait; give them to clients whilst they are having their hair coloured instead of a magazine; and, they also make extremely powerful consultation tools to help you truly understand what your client wants and make sure you both have the same expectations. By using a website called Pinterest, which is a quick, easy and free service, you can create your own digital look book. It is described as “a pinboard style photo-sharing website… Users can browse other pinboards for images, ‘re-pin’ images to their own pinboards, or ‘like’ photos”. You can use the different boards as you would different sections of your look book. For example, you could create 5 different boards: Reds, Brunettes, Blondes, Short Styles, and Long Styles. Each containing a variety of images for inspiration that you can use with your client.
There is a free iOS and Android application, so it will look great an work easily on most tablets. Once you have your board created, you can even put it onto your facebook page by using an app called Woobox that will keep the layout of your Pinterest boards.
