If a client chooses a particular style from a magazine or lookbook, they may not be able to achieve it in one visit. They may need several colours, treatments, or just time to allow their hair to grow. Creating a hair plan for them enables your clients to become part of the journey and by knowing what they need done at each visit, they can better budget.
Hair plans should be made as part of the consultation process. They should be made together with your client and be the result of a detailed consultation. By including them in the process, they will feel more in control in their hair journey and it can help to increase loyalty.
You can record the plans onto cards or small sheets that you and they can keep; or if you have a salon computer system you could add the plan as a note next to their client record so that you are able to email it out to them. On their plan, lay out the cost for each visit – you can even offer a discount if they sign up for the complete plan. Adding a space for a home care regime can also help to increase retail sales and means your clients can perform care services themselves with take home masks and treatments.
You can combine hair plans with your ‘recommend a friend scheme’ and offer any new clients a free hair plan as part of their consultation. It shows the professionalism of your salon and the level of service you give to your clients. Even if they don’t take you up on it or they don’t rebook straight away, it’s something that they will definitely remember and it will set you apart.
If you think it’s something that could work for you or if you’ve tried something similar, let us know.
